2012 Mercedes C63 AMG Coupe review - The 2012 Mercedes C63 AMG Coupe offers a plethora of standard and optional packages. Beginning on the inside, the instrument cluster with integrated screen immediately recalls the new CLS63 AMG with three separate round gauges providing information on speed, engine rpm, fuel level, and coolant temperature. The specially shaped AMG performance steering wheel has been adopted from the CLS63 AMG and includes flattened top and bottom sections, metallic trim elements, grip areas trimmed in perforated leather, and aluminum shift paddles.
Mercedes-Benz announced on Sunday that its 2012 C63 AMG coupe would arrive in dealer showrooms in September, on the same timeline as the revised C63 AMG sedan. The coupe will be shown at the New York auto show next month.
Mercedes-Benz said its new 2012 C63 AMG Coupe will arrive at U.S. dealers in September. The latest addition to the German automaker's ever-expanding stable of AMG performance models shares much of its go-fast hardware with the 2012 C63 AMG Sedan, which gets a face-lift and some tech upgrades when it debuts stateside this summer.
The basic engine in both C63 AMG models is the familiar AMG-tuned 6.2-liter V8, which delivers 451 horsepower and 443 pound-feet of torque. An optional performance package pushes output to 481 hp. With that package, top speed climbs from 155 mph to 174 mph, and 0-60 acceleration is trimmed from 4.4 to 4.3 seconds. Both cars also feature AMG's Speedshift MCT seven-speed gearbox.
The new C63 AMG Coupe has wider front and rear tracks, with stiffer spring and damper rates, a high-performance braking system with ventilated and perforated discs, and speed-sensitive sport steering. The car rides on new 18-inch AMG alloy wheels painted titanium gray with 235/40R18 front tires and 255/35R18 rears.
