2012 Porsche Panamera Review
Porsche reveals Panamera Turbo S Review - 2012 Panamera Turbo S is new latest of Porsche. 2012 Panamera Turbo S it's faster than an Aston Martin Rapide, a Mercedes S65 AMG, the Maserati Quattroporte, and even the old BMW M5. The new Porsche Panamera Turbo S. The top-of-the-range Turbo S gets a tweaked version of the twin-turbo 4.8-litre V8 via improved turbochargers with titanium-aluminium turbine wheels (reducing inertia) and a modified ECU.
The Ultimate Panamera is the Turbo S, the new flagship to Porsche’s four-seater range. Taking the standard Turbo as its base, Porsche has uprated the 4.8-litre twin-turbocharged V8 with improved turbos with titanium-aluminium turbine wheels and modified engine management software. The result is 550bhp, up from 500bhp in the regular Turbo. Torque also jumps 50Nm to 750Nm in normal running, but this is increased to 800Nm when the Sport and Sport Plus modes of the standard Sport Chrono Package are selected.
If you were to walk into a Porsche dealer today and demand the best of the Panamera lineup, you would be offered a 500 horsepower Turbo model, but if you can wait until deliveries start in June, a 550 horsepower Panamera Turbo S will also be an option. The addition of the Turbo S isn’t exactly surprising, given the sister 911-range already had a Turbo S model. In the Panamera Turbo S, power was boosted to a very healthy 550 horsepower and 555 lb-ft of torque from a bi-turbo 4.8-liter V8. The 10 percent power bump from the standard Turbo will surely help offset the added bulk of the four doors.
